Dog Clothes

Some people think dog clothes are cruel, but if the dog is trained and introduced to the clothes slowly many dogs actually enjoy the attention they receive when wearing their fashions. Getting a dog to wear clothing takes a little bit of training and a lot of patience and treats.

Starting out with accessories such as bandanas will make the transition to dog clothes easier. Reward the dog as the clothing is being put on and while they are wearing it (as long as the dog is not tugging at or chewing on the clothes.) Start out with small increments of time and gradually increase the time the article is worn.

It’s important the dog clothes are the right size. Measure the circumference of the dog’s neck, his height, his weight, and his length. Use this information to select the right size of clothing. Make sure the neck and arms of the clothing are not too tight. If it appears the dog is extremely uncomfortable or stressed, remove the article- don’t torture the dog.
