Keeping whippet puppy entertained?

We recently got a lovely blue whippet *****, she isn't vaccinated yet so she isn't allowed out on breeder's orders.
Whippets, as you probably know, are energetic little things and can go mad when cooped up. She currently is at the stage where she must chew everything and constantly be doing something or asleep.
I want her to be happy and healthy before we're able to go out, other than tug-o-war, soft ball games and running up and down the spare room, what else is there to do? Running out of ideas!
(We don't have a big garden)

Work on some basic obedience training. Mental stimulation is a great workout as well!

my only idea is the ball game if you can't walk him yet but for a whippet to get tired you would have to do it while

tie a short length of string to its tail and attach a coloured sock, and watch the fun.

take a treat and have her watch you put it under a blanket, then let her go and say get it, do this a couple times, then put a treat behind a chair, do the same, get it to the point where when you say "get it" she will start looking for treats, soon you can go into a room hide a bunch of treats, let her into the room say "get it" then leave her in there untill she finds all of the treats. it is a lot of fun for the dog.

I agree with Mutt Mommy...no reason you can't start training now!

Teach her whatever you can think of - not just obedience commands but tricks, too.

I can not recommend enough problem solving toys: I Qube, Busy Buddy, Kong toy filled with food, etc. Using her brain will tire her out as much as running around and using physical energy. Check out Kong's web site (www.kongcompany.com) for "recipes" for Kong stuffing and for ideas for brain games.

A cheap, disposable toy could be a plastic bottle. If you wish you can fill it with food pellets, this should keep your little whippet busy for a while. My whippets are around ten years old but they still enjoy a good chew on a plastic bottle!
