I am looking for a black-faced whippet puppy. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Our whippet passed away recently and we would like another whippet. She was a mix, but looked 100% whippet with a black face and grey/black body. I cannot find breeders who breed black faced whippets. I also have no idea on price. I am looking for a female puppy. Any help? Thanks.

Since good breeders don't specifically breed for color, all you can do is keep looking and find out which bloodlines tend to produce it.

Here is an interesting page on coat color genetics in Whippets

No, sorry watch the papers for ads is all I can suggest.

well since breeders dont breed them to have a black face you are going to have to look for a mix again.

try the thriftynickel ads paper. also you can go to the puppyfind.com and they have hundreds i imagaine that you can browse through with pics that you may be able to find one. Patience will be needed though to find just the right one. But believe me it is worth the trouble and wait. It most certainly was for my son.
Just in case you can always let your local animal shelter or vet know what your looking for and maybe by some chance it will come true.
Good Luck

Whippet breeders generally breed with little thought to color, ESPECIALLY markings. I would not get too caught up in color, I don't think I have ever seen a Whippet with a grey body and black head. White body and black head, yes, but you could look for YEARS searching for a pup of the right color, that is available to purchase. Color does not matter in the least and I hate it when puppy buyers are all set on a certain color. You cannot replace the pet you lost.

Expect to pay $500 - 700 for a well bred pet puppy. Go to a show or race breeder, there are a few people breeding them for cash, and I would stay away from them. I do have pups coming, but I don't know where you live, and I do not ship.

Search for good breeders in your area here.

And do visit the color genetics page Miriam posted, very interesting site, she has put hours and hours into it.
