I'm planning to get a dog and I wanted know about this breed, West Highland White terrier?

Im getting a dog in a long time but just checking out the breed and I want know about the West Highland White terrier. What are its pros and cons? Does it get sick easily? On Mon. I go to school around 8 and come back 3. my mother has night shfit so she goes to sleep around 9 and wakes up at 2. Then on the other days it wont be alone cause my mother has day-offs on my school days and has work on weekends which I have day-offs on.When my mother is asleep it will have lots to do, lots of excersize toys for it and we will block all tihngs that can hurt him, we wont have much glass things laying around for it to get hurt, Im probably going to get a puppy that will be atleast 2 months old, we will have a little fence around him like a play pen but bigger so he can run around, there willbe food for him and fresh water at all times,how much do I have to feed him?Please list all the information you can give me, please thank you!Im 10 years old and my brother is 15 he will also take care of it

My friend had a pair of Westies and the only thing she ever said bad about them was their fur was hard to take care of. So you should read up on that.

those kinds of dogs are OK to have but my brother and his family used to have one but they Had a lot of trouble with it. now that they have a 2 year old in the house it got very protective about the things around it . and also just the other day it bit my niece's ear so they had to get rid of it. i can tell you though i used to have 2 Siberian huskies and they are great and playful dogs.

They are fabulous dogs, but they are prone to grass allergies so be sure you can afford the shampoos, etc. that they will require. Also, he will need walks at least twice daily and will never be trusted off leash.

Have you done much research on the breed ? You do realize that the westie is just a white cairn terrier right ? if you dont know that then i suggest you do some research on the breed and yes i love cairn terriers and I had one for 11 yrs and she passed last year and I miss her very much. I've had a Westie for the past 12 years. They are very loyal, lovable dogs. They are also very stubborn. They will chase, cats, birds & squirrels and may chase a person who is running. They need to be brushed regularly. As for feeding, it depends on what kind of food you will give them. I feed my dog 1/2 bowl of dry dog food daily and his weight has remained a constant 16 lbs. Remember Westies have a very long life span (15-17 years) so if you're willing to commit to that long a time, then get a Westie.
