HELP me train my Vizsla!? |
She is ten weeks and very smart. Shes making much progress but having a hard time "holding it". She has far too many accidents in the house. Just pee, but still, she knows it's wrong and doesnt care! I emphasized the wrong thing.... I would appreciate advice on reprimanding her, besides no, no, no. We got the praise and positive reinforcement thing down. She's also being kennel trained. A ten week old puppy cannot "hold it" for very long. They do not develop bladder/bowel control until 5-6 months old. When crate training the formula for confinement is 1 hour per month plus 1, so a 3 month old puppy can be confined for 3-4 hours MAX. Kennel training will help her learn how to hold it, that is if you have ruled out a medical condition She really is too young to expect much in the way of potty training just yet. Every dog matures at a different rate, and just because she knows she is doing wrong does not mean she can control it. Just give her time, keep using puppy pads and taking her outside every 30 minutes or so. Surely you know that a 10 week old puppy has just as much control as a baby!! First of all she's a baby and does not know it's wrong. At 10 weeks of age she should be constantly supervised and have absolutely no house freedom. If she has accidents and you do not catch her in the act, do not correct her because she has no idea what you're upset about. get a book from your library and know what its about and why she's doing it and realize that A 10 WEEK PUPPY can t physically hold it that long. duh. im a dog trainer and i wait until theyre about 3-4 months b4 i start housebreaking it. read a book and itll explain how you can train your 10 week puppy to learn to go outside and poop. http://www.wikihow.com/House-Train-a-Pup... |
