Is the saluki hound good as a guard dog?

No, they are not known for being good guard dogs, other than predator control. (coyotes, etc)
Most of the sight hounds are not known for guarding, except the Afghan, who sometimes makes an excellent one, and the Irish wolfhound..
However, as with any dog, their mere presence is a deterrent for intruders, and they will bark an alert.
