How to stop my dog from peeing at home and what breed is she?(picture)?

I adopted a saluki/shepherd mix a few days ago but he turned out to be too hyper and wouldn't settle down so fortunately my cousin wanted to get a dog and I need a smaller one. My cousin is going to take the one I had and I am getting another one. I didn't want to give him back but my mom said that a dog of his size and energy was too much and she wouldn't allow it at home but she said she would allow a smaller dog. I am so happy the saluki mix is still going to have a home and with my cousin so I can see him a lot. Anyways I am going to pick up the other dog today but when I saw her the other day I noticed that as soon as the vet brought her in the viewing room she peed. I expect she will be doing this at my house too and I just want to know how I can prevent this from happening. Also, what breed do you think she is? I know I already asked about the breed but I forgot to add her age and I think it made a difference. ...continued

here is her pic:

She is 3 years old and had 3 puppies that were all adopted...do you have any idea what breed she is? Many answers suggested she was part husky and part malamute, then why is she so small?

She is so cute! Looks like a husky mix to me. How small is she? My friend had a great AKC registered husky female and she never weighed over 40 pounds.

With regard to the peeing, maybe she was scared and peed submissively at the vet's. In any case, don't give her any unsupervised free time in the house until you are sure she knows where to go potty. If you want to learn more about different methods of housebreaking, check out this site:

About howbig is she? Its hard to guess size from pics sometimes.

She may have peed there because she was nervous. When you bring her home, walk her outside for a while before you take her inside.. let her sniff and pee. For the first few weeks, take her outside often, praise and reward her for pottying outside to help encourage it.

Its fair to expect a few accidents in a new home, even for a housebroken dog. She may be nervous and scared of the new home.

Here are a few guesses on what she may have in her.. some of these breeds are medium sized and smaller.. but without knowing her size, its my best guess! She looks like she may be somewhere around 25-35 pounds, or a little smaller

Austrailian Cattle Dog
Basenji
Corgi
Manchester Terrier
Shiba Inu
Lancashire Heeler

I agree with Nekkid and cavalier that is sounds like it was submissive peeing. If she was at the vets they probably would have caught it if it had been a Urinary Tract Infection.

My guess is that she's an Australian Kelpie! :-D She's cute and reminds me of the one I recently tried to save from the pound. Congrats and good luck!

I can most definitely see Husky, but I can't tell you what else. She is certainly a very nice looking dog, though. As for the peeing, she may have been nervous, but have a crate ready for her,or a room with a baby gate, and make sure to take her out on a leash frequently, and stay with her until she goes potty, then praise her and give her a treat.I assume she was spayed at the shelter? if not, you'll need to get her spayed soon,This will also make housebreaking easier.

I"M SURE IM RIGHT PLEASE READ IT PLEASE IM 98% sure

I WOULD SAY A KELPIE X my nan had one they are gawjuzz

^_^ have fun and sorry i couldnt answer your other question

Hey the dog probably peed when the vet bought her out due to excitment or nerves.

Chances are she may have been abused by previous owners and the will make her nervous around people and that is possibly why she peed.

It may only be a time thing once she gets used to you and her new surroundings she should stop.

Re training her to pee outside:

Everytime she pees put her outside
do not rub her nose in her wee
the only thing that will be teaching her is that it is her wee that is where she must pee next time therefore making the problem worse.

As for the bread I am thinking she looks siberian husky crossed with blue heeler or siberian husky crossed with fox terrior or some middle sized dog I'm pretty confident on the siberian husky part. I found a picture on the net of a siberian husky and she looks quite similar in the face except the eyes I don't know how to add picture to show you what I found. I believe she is crossed though as she is too small to be a full husky as for what she is mixed with i'm not entirely sure.

A vet should be able to help determine her breed though

Good luck with the dog she is beautiful.

If you want to see the picture I found of the siberain husky email me bitsy_pixie@yahoo.com

Submissive peeing is a trait in some submissive dogs but can be helped. She looks like a Shiba Inu to me. There are many sites about submissive wetters. Size, Proportion, Substance
Males 14陆 inches to 16陆 inches at withers. Females 13陆 inches to 15陆 inches. The preferred size is the middle of the range for each sex. Average weight at preferred size is approximately 23 pounds for males, 17 pounds for females. Males have a height to length ration of 10 to 11, females slightly longer. Bone is moderate. they come in 3 colors including blk/tan-Black with tan points and urajiro. Black hairs have a brownish cast, not blue. The undercoat is buff or gray. The borderline between black and tan areas is clearly defined. Tan points are located as follows: two oval spots over the eyes: on the sides of the muzzle between the black bridge of the muzzle and the white cheeks; on the outside of the forelegs from the carpus, or a little above, downward to the toes; on the outside of the hind legs down the front of the stifle broadening from hock joint to toes, but not completely eliminating black from rear of pasterns. Black penciling on toes permitted. Tan hairs may also be found on the inside of the ear and on the underside of the tail.

Sesame (black-tipped hairs on a rich red background) with urajiro. Tipping is light and even on the body and head with no concentration of black in any area. Sesame areas appear at least one-half red. Sesame may end in a widow's peak on the forehead, leaving the bridge and sides of the muzzle red. Eye spots and lower legs are also red.

Clearly delineated white markings are permitted but not required on the tip of the tail and in the form of socks on the forelegs to the elbow joint, hind legs to the knee joint. A patch of blaze is permitted on the throat, forechest, or chest in addition to urajiro.

Serious fault--Cream, white pinto, or any other color or marking not specified is a very serious fault and must be penalized.

Gait
Movement is nimble, light, and elastic. At the trot, the legs angle in towards a center line while the topline remains level and firm. forward reach and rear extension are moderate and efficient. In the show ring, the Shiba is gaited on a loose lead at a brisk trot.

Temperament
A spirited boldness, a good nature, and an unaffected forthrightness, which together yield dignity and natural beauty. The Shiba has an independent nature and can be reserved toward strangers but is loyal and affectionate to those who earn his respect. At times aggressive toward other dogs, the Shiba is always under the control of his handler. Any aggression toward handler or judge or any overt shyness must be severely penali
