Why does my mums dog take her food out of her bowl to eat it?

my mums dog is a saluki cross.she is very well fed and healthy.she takes the meat out of her bowl onto a rug to eat it.
any one know why?

I think that dogs just like the 'carpet crunchies' and will try and make their food taste different by "kicking it up a notch" and dragging the food to the floor from the plate/bowl! My dogs love to chew their rawhide bones on my socks! or roll a piece of pizza around on the floor before they eat it. Go figure!
That has to be why men are compared to dogs and women to cats... a cat would NEVER do that!

I think that animals have their own idiosyncrasies just like people do about food. Just like some people eat their dinner one item at a time. (finish the veggie, then meat) They all have their own personalities and I think that's one of the reasons we keep them, because they do these things just to make us wonder.

No idea...
2/3 of my kittens do exactly that with their fresh meat!

Don't know one of my dogs takes mouthful of kibble out of the bowl and spits it out then eats small amounts of it at a time. What can i say it's her thing to do.
