How did I get a ragdoll cat whithout pedigree parents?

I have been blessed to be the owner of a lovely ragdoll cat. I got him and his brother as kittens and have seen their mother. My ragdoll precisely fits the bi-color seal point description. His markings, eyes, coat, temperment and personality match the breed description to a tee.

However, his mother was NOT a ragdoll. She was a long hair black and white cat. The father is an unknown ferral. His brother is gray with white feet and chin. But his temperment fits the ragdolls. I want to know how I ended up with a cat who fits all the ragdoll catagories, yet his mother at least had no ragdoll features.

I have to boast a little, I love this guy so much. He is an incredible kitty. IF you have one, I would like to hear about him/her.

You do not have a Ragdoll. You have a seal point and white domestic longhair. The genes to produce the ragdoll pattern are in the gene pool of free breeding domestic cats. You have a beautiful Ragdoll look-alike, but not a Ragdoll. Why not consider showing your cat?

Read the breed history. Ragdolls were originally bred from strays....

Still looking for my new Ragdoll kitty.... There are some in rescue places but I have some other things to do.......

I may have to settle for a boy rather than a girl..........

You don't have a ragdoll. To have a ragdoll, both parents have to be purebreed ragdolls, not necessarily ragdolls with papers. It sounds to me like dad was probably a ragdoll or a ragdoll mix and most of the traits of the ragdoll came out in your one cat. I understand that Ragdolls are wonderful, sweet, gentle cats.

You got LUCKY. LOL
I adopted a kitten thought to be Siamese mix.
I have studied up on Rags because I had planned on purchasing one but decided not to. Anyway, my kitten looks
like a Bi color, seal mitted ragdoll to the Tee but her temperment only half matches a rags. I still don't know if she
is siamese mix or a ragdoll. Yes they are beautiful cats with lovely dispositions. Mine is a sweety rather a siamese or rag. Who knows? I did not get to see any of the others in the liter or the mother, just was told siamese mix, and mother thought to been full blooded siamese, but some long haird siamese can be easily mistaken for a ragdoll unless you really know your breeds. They grow to be huge. Exspecially the males. Up to 25 lbs. I believe. So if yours grows to be a really big cat, chances are you have a Rag. I was like you thou at first, I was like No way I got so lucky getting a Rag.. LOL Good luck, God bless. P.s Incase yours is a Rag, you should read up on its breed, and there are a few things they claim you should get your rag tested for but can't remember now what that was, just that it was important.

PROBABLY THE MOTHERS MUM WAS A RAGDOLL AND MAYBY THE FATHERS DAD WAS A DIFFRERENT BREED OF CAT OR VICE VERSA, I THINK IF YOU BREED YOUR RAGDOLL KITTEN WITH ANOTHER RAGDOLL YOU WOULDNT GET RAGDOLL KITTENS, NOT WHOLE ONES ANYWAY.

WELL WHAT DOES IT MATTER WHAT CATS LOOK LIKE, IT'S THE WAY THEY MAKE THEIR OWNERS FEEL, AFTER THEY HAVE COME HOME FROM A BUSY DAY AT WORK OR SCHOOL. JUST ENJOY YOUR CAT
