Ragdoll and British Shorthair?

I have a 9 month old ragdoll boy who is very playfull! He is home alone all day and i want to get him a friend.
Does anyone out there own a ragdoll and a british shorthair. I would love to get one of them and would like to know how they get along. I know all cats are different... but any advice is good.
Or has anyone had a yournger ragdoll and introduced a new kitten to them? How did it go? any tips?

I have several different breeds of cats in my house. I have Ragdolls,a Scottish Fold, an American Shorthair, a British Shorthair, and an Exotic Shorthair.

My kitties all get a long for the most part. There are no huge fights, just the usual little squabbles. They just need some time to get to know each without being forced upon one another.

It does take some time, but eventually they will get along and maybe even become best buddies.

I have a British blue. He is a right miserable sod! I got him 2 birman girls for company but he doesn't like them. If your cat is still young, he will probably like a friend, but older cats usually prefer people as they are territorial. Remember if you do get another cat, to get a male or neutered female. I think that you sould use another Ragdoll. Or find a really suddel kitten that you know does well with other kittens. I would do it really soon beacuse as soon as it hits 12 moths I don't think it will be as easy to squezze another kitten in whith him. Has he been neutered? If you want them to mate then get a girl. Or neuter him so he is calmed down and then get a girl kitten (prefferable spayed). One cat you should definantly not get is an American Shorthair, their nasty.
