Is a ragdoll cat a breed?

i have a ragdoll i think but is it a breed?
becaues her mum is a tabby/whice or something like that!

Yes, a ragdoll is a breed of cat. But your cat must have ragdoll parents in order to be full ragdoll.

edit: it is true that the cat's coloring (in this case, tabby) does not have to do with its breed, but from what i understand, ragdolls tend to be colorpoint, mitted, or bicolor; i've never heard of a tabby one.

Yes the ragdoll is a fairly new breed and evidently very very passive.

breed has nothing to do with the colour of the coat
if her mum was a ragdoll breed and her dad was too, then your cat's a ragdoll. simple as that.

NO

Yes a ragdoll is a breed but yours must be a cross if the mum's tabby

Yes ragdoll is a breed but they are a cream colour with grey ears and tail when they are a kitten and they turn to a really dark brownish colour when they get older (ears and tail that is)

Hi Krystal...Ragdoll cats are pedigree however if your cat wasn't an offspring to two Ragdoll parents then she would only be considered a Domestic Long Hair (DLH) with colour points.

A breed is a domesticated subspecies or infrasubspecies of an animal by defination therefore a cat to be a ragdoll must be born to ragdoll pedigree parents.

yes it is but if it is a full ragdoll then its parents must be ragdolls to but the ragdoll cat is very cute your lucky to have such a lovely cat :)

Yes. Ragdoll is a breed. We have a bi colour one - A siamese and the beauty of these cats is that unlike persians they don't need brushing everyday as they don't get knotty! They have a great laid back nature too and get along with kids and other animals.

They absolutely are a breed! You might find that perhaps her gran/grandad was a Ragdoll?

Have a look at the link I've attached, it gives you lots of information on ragdolls xxxx
