Is it possible? Question about cats.? |
Ok so I have an 8 year old Ocicat male cat. He's really sweet, but he seems to have some problems. For one he was the runt of the litter and he has allergies (even possibly to himself). My question is, is it possible for a cat to have no visual signs of aging at all? Oscar (my cat) doesn't look any different than he did when I brought him home as a kitten. He has never sprayed either so I worry maybe he never matured? Other than the allergies our vet says he is in perfect health so I don't really know what to think. While 8 years old is considered the starting of senior age for a cat it can be relatively young. The oldest cat I've ever seen at the vet hospital I work at is 23! A blood test will tell you if their are any changes in his organ function which is common as cats age. But it is possible for him to be in perfect health. They are just like people. One 60 year old person can have many health problems and another can be in the best health of their life. Oh and about the spraying not all cats spray especially if he is neutered. I am confused about what your asking here. he's healthy, what's to worry about. I don't think cats show signs of aging like dogs do. My other cat was 12 when she died and she never had any gray hair like dogs get. maybe he has a growth problem. he may lack some nutrients.i dunno. One of my neighbors has a cat who is 13 or 14 years old. You would never know it to look at her. She is still quite active and trim. She doesn't act like a senior cat. Your cat is probably just hitting his prime. It sounds like he is in great shape and very healthy! Enjoy! |
