Are Mastiff Runners? |
I was looking to purchase an English Mastiff, but one of the main reasons I have a dog is for its running with me. I just wanted to know if Mastiffs are good for running in the 10k zone? Any advice? No. You may get a lean adolescent to run for a couple of miles, but as soon as it fills out, running will injure it. no way hosay i have an english bull mastiff and she is a lazy sod,,, they were originally a game keepers dog and are meant for sitting on people lol and defo not for speed but brilliant dogs non the less NO they are too big of a dog! They are in the Giant bred of dogs. If you want a running partner than look at other dogs not a Giant breed at all. Much to hard on their joints and hips especially. Well, it's kind of a heavily built dog...wouldn't be my first choice, that's for sure. Most large breed dogs are not of the running nature...they don't have the endurance...you could look into a leonberger...if you are wanting a giant breed dog...they are more agile and have a fair amount of endorance for the giant breeds...but i would bet that a mastiff is not the best running partner. no way, mastiff are guarders, if you want a dog that'll run with you get a Greyhound, they are great runners. oh and leo's are not great runners either they are bigger than a mastiff. obviously she hasnt done her research. check them out - They are right they don't have good endurance. Not a mastiff. Are you serious,a dog that will way over 100 pounds can't really run that fast or for that long Mastiffs are not made for running . They mostly will snooze all day and drool . This is what this breed does droll and sleep because they're very inactive when in a house . They are very large dogs and have alot of weight . So thats why they're not made for running . they are trotters like a rott |
