Puppy english mastiff behavior? |
i have a 8 month old english mastiff. as he has gotten older his behavior has gotten worse, he is becoming very stubborn, very rowdy and sometimes rough. he has not been neutered. i would like to refrain from having him neutered. for anyone who has/does own a mastiff, is this behavior normal for his age, will he grow out of it? the reason i dont want to neuter him is because he has an excellent championed bloodline, gargoyle gropetti was his grandfather, and i dont believe in having an animal fixed for no reason, it is not natural, maybe if more of these tree hugging liberals were fixed the world would be a better place It is absolutely normal, as he is going though the rebellious teenager phase.. probably if not take him to a dog trainer Mastiffs like to play rough. Of course, with proper training, he can become a great dog. English Mastiffs were bred to be guard dogs. It's in their blood to protect. They can become possessive and can also become combative with other dogs. I suggest proper training and socialization. You need to let a guard breed know that you're the boss, and other people and animals are okay. Otherwise, they can become dominant and aggressive. |
