Maltese puppy??

Okay so I want a Maltese puppy.
But I have a problems
1. I have no idea on how to tell/convince my parents into the idea of having one. They don't like the idea because they think they mess up the house and are gonna make the house stink. They don't know what kind of dog I want yet so they just think any dog makes the house smell. Also they think dogs are highly expensive. They don't enjoy big dogs but I don't want a very big dog that is why I chose a maltese.

Okay so how can I possibly let them know I'm ready to have a puppy I am very responsible and they are aware of that but how can I convince them into getting one (possibly for Christmas.) Maybe if I warm them up to the idea now by then they might actully allow. but the thing is I don't want them to hate my dog if I get them I want them to love it just as much as I would. how much would I spend per month for it? What are some requirements that it needs? What are the bad part of owning them ?

For once I like to have someone answer my question and not tell me what I should do instead.

this is not relevant to your question, but beware if you have a small breed puppy of a relatively young age (8 wks), when our Maltese X shihtzu X chiwaua pup was that age, we had many close moments where he was almost stepped or sat on!
Good Luck,
P.S consider buying from a shelter, that way you will save a life

Dogs do stink/smell at one time or another and they do cost a lot of money.
The dog itself cost a lot, but, you must also think about all the supplies for th dog. Also continued vet care. Vet care and monthly heartworm, or flea treatments also cost a lot.
No animal is cheap. They cost a fortune to care for.

If your parents don't want a dog then respect their decision.

Also holidays are a very stressful time to get a pet. There is a lot of confusion and a lot of hazards around the home.

A Maltese from any reputable breeder is going to cost around $1,500. So there goes your idea of dogs not being horribly expensive.

Vet bills are several hundred dollars per year.

Food bills are around $25/month.

Emergency vet fees can easily go over $1,000.

Dogs are expensive, time consuming, and a 20 year committment. If you live with your parents now, you'll most likely be going to college in the next 20 years, which means your dog will be homeless, or left with your parents, who don't want a dog to start with.

Wait until you have your own place, and then get a dog. It's not fair to get a dog just because YOU want one, if it clearly doesn't suit your lifestyle.

Ok. I have a maltese puppy. Her name is Emma. They are kinda high maintenence considering they are white and get dirty very easily. You also have to get stuff to keep their eyes from staining from tears. It can get kinda ugly. Plus their hair is like human hair, it will grow and grow and grow. .......On the plus side though, they are very good companions, they will pick out a person at any given time that they will "follow" or sit with. They do not shed! They do not stink! Their hair is totally hypoallergenic!. So you won't have to worry about having a nasty dog smell in the house or having dog hair on everything........If you keep them in a long coat you will have to pay for grooming once every 4 to 6 weeks. and plus brush them daily. I kept mine in full coat for a while then I just cut her hair to about an inch all over. I keep her hair in a top-knot and she looks beautiful. if you do decide to get one or can talk your parents into one you will love it and so will they!

The best thing about Malteses is that they are hypoallergenic meaning that they can be put with people that are allergic to dogs. So definately tell them that. Hope this helps.
