I really want a keeshond dog but my wife and i are renting are house and in the lease it says no pets.?

i was thinking maybe the landlord will let me have a dog in the house if i pay extra money. wat else can i say to bribe the landlord into letting me have a dog. i see my landlord every 6 months so would be not smart to just get the dog? if not how do i hide the dog from the landlord.

Since you have a house and not an apartment where there would be a problem with other tenants, you probably have a bit more leeway with your landlord.

Most landlord are wary about pets because of the mess particularly for the floor. Some landlords are most forgiving for show dogs that are usually better cared for and trained than a dog that someone just throws in to the backyard so that may be an avenue of discussion.

If you have carpeting, you may have to promise to or pay an extra deposit for cleaning and perhaps replacing the carpet when you leave. Other problems could be barking (kees are a very, very barky breed) and bothering neighbors, chewing on woodwork if this is a puppy, marking wallpaper, messy backyard, liability for biting (kees are friendly, fairly small dogs so not as much of an issue) etc.

If you address, in writing, each of these problems and how to prevent them, solve them, pay for them then you may get your landlord's agreement. It isn't worth it to sneak around IMO. I would just find someplace else to live.

This is a simple question...you can't get the dog. If it says no pets, thats what it means!

Move to a place that allows dogs. I would not get a dog without your landlord's permission, as that would be a violation of your lease.

I wouldn't recommend trying to hide the dog from him. What if he has to come in for an emergency when you're not home? He's gonna be pissed for one thing, and he may force you to get rid of the dog, or tell you to leave. You're better off trying to work something out with him, like paying an extra 100. a month that's nonrefundable or something. If he says no, just accept it and hold off on getting a dog till you're in a place where you can own one.

You don't hide the dog from the landlord, because they will find out. And then you either have to move, or get rid of the dog. And then there's yet another dog in the shelter system because the people were too stupid and selfish to do things the RIGHT way.

Start looking for a new apartment, and when the lease at this place ends, move somewhere that you can have a dog.

well if i was u i would say i will pay extra i will help out or something like that but to hide it u would ge tthe dog ok then when its gatting tiem for the lanlord to come take it to a freinds house or somewhere then after the lanlord comes and leaves take the dog back

Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

NO, because if you get the dog, then the landlord finds out, you can be evicted and possibly end up having to get rid of the dog. This is not being responsible to your family or the dog. Most shelters and private rescues will call your landlord to make sure you have approval from your landlord. You need to have your landlord sign an agreement to allow you to have a dog (a spoken authorization means nothing and he can't always change his mind). Or you can move.

Also, if you get the dog without the landlord's approval, not only can you be evicted, but your landlord can also take you to court for damages (real or imaginary) related to dog ownership. You are better off getting approval first.

are y giid tebabts? does the leanlord like you and your wife? if yes talk to the landlord and explain the situation telling him you will bea responsible tenant and clean up after the dog and the dog wil not distrub others if he says no thrn look into moving toa place that allows dogs or wait til you cand afford to buya house

If you just get a dog and break the rules you are risking being evicted from your house. If you are evicted you may not be able to find anyone willing to rent to you as an eviction will show up on credit reports. It is not worth having that happen.
And it will be the dog who pays the ultimate price in the end it always is.
Do the responsible thing find a place that allows pets or do not get one.

You could just ask your landlord but he might have his own reasons for no pets. If he didn't originally offer if you probably can't have one in that appartment. I would suggest if you ever move finding an appartment that will let you have the pup without pet rent. That can become very expensive and can be almost 500 dollars per pet per month. It could also be only 10 just depending on the apartment. Hiding the dog wouldn't be too good especially if he chews something really obvious and hurts your deposit. Just bring it up next time you see him and explain that it's a smaller breed dog and would be kept away from damaging his appartment. Also bring him pictures and a size reference so he understands what it is. My sister-in-law couldn't have Min-pins because the landlord thought they were actual dobermans even though she explained that they werent even knee-high. Good luck I hope it goes well!!

Keeshounds are wonderful dogs. I had one for years who was very well behaved.

I wouldn't hide a dog from your landlord. As many other people have anwsered it can cause many problems for you.

If I was in your position I would do one of two things.
1) Start looking for a new place that will allow you to get the dog.
2) Go to your landlord prepared. Decide how much you would be willing to pay a month and include a pet depoist. Offer to get the house professionally cleaned after you move out to remove pet hair and odor. Presnet your landlord with information about Keeshounds. They are very well behaved esp. with obedience training.

I would approach your landlord, explain the situation and except what they have to say. Maybe you can work something out with them. if they do allow you to have the pet start looking for a new place to move into soon or at the completion of your lease.

Congrats on picking one of the best dog breeds there are!

I used to rent a house and the lease said "no pets", but the landlord made an exception. My dog was small, older, housebroken and obedienced trained (plenty of show wins too). It worked out so well, he eventually let us have other dogs. He didn't charge us any extra, not even a dog deposit. However, that's the exception and not the rule. There are plenty who won't take chances. You can't blame them, they've been burned by irresponsible owners. I don't recommend sneaking the dog. It's not fair to the landlord (who owns the house & made the terms clear up front) or the dog...they become attached and would likely end up in a shelter/rescue. Like I mentioned, maybe ask about an adult dog w/the condition of obedience lessons (follow through). Otherwise, just move to a place that allows pets. Good luck!
