Make up in showing....?

Should I wear make-up in showing and showjumping?
If so what?

I'm from the UK and do allot of affiliated showing.. i always wear make-up because that's what makes me feel good if i didn't wear any makeup i wouldn't feel myself and therefore my performance would suffer but with makeup i feel confident ..at the end of the day the judge is looking at the attitude and turn out of both horse and rider also the conformation of the horse ... if their was a strict rule about makeup I'm sure i would know about it as iv shown horses and ponies in showing classes and working hunter and not 1 judge has mentioned my makeup and i ware the full lot!! and if i admit its quite heavy as well lol

And as for showjumping you could probably go round the ring wearing a halloween mask and they wouldnt notice.. in showjumping the only thing that matters is you clearing the fence as long as your tack is safe your hat and riding gear is up to the standerd thats all that matters! In fact i was on the welsh teams and we used to paint dragons and leeks on our faces and the judges made a comment about us making effort 2 our own apparence too!! i was rele pleased :D and that was affiliated..
Good luck! :D

we used to just put on our normal "school" amount.
so like, happy cheeks, light glossy lips, and eyeliner/mascara.
in pleasure shows we would wear eye shadow, but you don't really need it in showjumping.
we basically just tried to look good [=
EDIT: depending on how old you are the amount of makeup would also change..

very little dont over do it.if you dont wear any now dont.me your self.

In the Western events they tend to wear quite a bit of makeup but not the English ones.
Western they go for bright lips and eyes and such but in English they are not big on bright colors much softer and more muted for English.

I've never heard of anyone wearing make up in English shows...

Hi ya, you are in the U.K. We are incredibly conservative with our showing. So my answer is going to be no.

I use to. Till one day it was about 90 degrees. It was so hot, I sweat and it went down my forhead and into my eyes which made my make up run. When riding, you have enough things to worry about, you dont need to add another thing. lol

I never wear make up ..... at all.

Often in showmanship or halter classes, they wear more make up, as kind of dressing up more because the judge is right there.

I do not know anyone that wears make up eventing or hunters or equitation. Phillip Dutton (Olympic Eventing Gold Medalist) used to even say there was no point in clipping a horse's ears and muzzle up close - trim the muzzle, but leaving hair isn't a big deal because the judges won't see it anyway, they are to far away....

yes!
mascara
a little blush
eyeshadow
thats all you need

dont wear much, it can seem like your more into looks & fashion etc than your horse & riding.
just foundation and some mascara looks fine - nothing too noticable
good luck!
