Saddle help!!!!!!!!!? |
I just purchased my first saddle (an M.Toulouse Claudine) and need to know if i should clean it immediently or if i should wait and clean it after i ride. Its new, but is there anything i need to put on it to like preserve the leather or something?? A new saddle needs to be made supple. You need to put a coat of leather dressing on the undersides of the saddle flaps and and on the girth straps. Do not oil the seat, because the oil will stain your pants and do not oil the panels because it can go into the wool flock . Keep applying the dressing until the flaps are soft and the dressing is no longer absorbed. A coat of glycerin saddle soap can be applied to the whole of the saddle to protect it and help fix the dye. it will be fine if you clean it now. be sure to use saddle soap( not any regular soap) and after cleaning it it is always good to use a saddle wax, it is not necessary, but it will make the leather softer, and nicer( but if you apply the wax, then you will have to wait one night for it to dry.) If its brand new you should not have to clean it. if its used then i would. Omg I tried 4 M. Toulouse saddles they are great... sometimes. i think you should maybe clean it before your ride in it alot, because it can loosen up the saddle a bit and it wont be so squeeky if you have a spooky horse. regular saddle soap willwork fine on it. As for when you clean it, you could do it now or wait till after you use it. It doesnt really matter. well you should clean it before and after and put a saddle pad on top of it when u r done riding because of the dust clean it with saddle soap after every 3 times you use it. |
