Havanese: To Cord Or Not To Cord? What Do You Think Looks Better?

I'm Getting A Havanese To Hopefully Get Back Into Showing, But The Breeds Coat Can Either Be Brushed Or Corded For Showing.

I Like Both & This Is Something I'd Like To Make My Mind Up Before I Get My Pup.

So Which Do You Rather & Why?

Non-Corded/Brushed:

Please Don't Take Into Account Up-Keep, I'v Groomed Both Corded & Non-Corded Dogs In The Past.

For A Change All The Answers I Got Were Good Ones...I'll Put This One To A Vote.

Nice Answer All Of You, I Really Couldn't Choose.

I'd say go with a corded look. If it's done well, it looks nicer, and I personally think it's easier on the dog to not have to go through brushing on a daily basis. Just a daily neatening of the cords, and you can do that while watching tv.

thats tough, i like the corded look because it is different but at the end of the day i think i would like petting a dog that is soft.

i'd personally go with the corded look, it looks alot nicer, and i usually see the non-corded Havanese.

Love the corded look. It's so distinctive.

I like corded... and in the long run its less work.

I love the corded look because so few breeds of dogs have coats that can be corded.

I personally do not like the corded look.
However, one thing you need to consider before deciding is coat type. Some Havanese have coats that are very easy to cord. These coats are usually very wavy and almost curly. Where as others, with a silkier coat, take a lot of time and attention to get their hair to cord.
