Why has my flat-coated retriever started scratching the floors? digging instict my dog does this too it is to try to fluff up the spot he is going to lay on before he lays trying to make it more comfortable. he started doing it just on blankets but now he does it every time he lays down. it is pretty normal it is a nesting instinct Hi! My family had a puppy once that did the same thing; scratching and sniffing the floor under the carpet. We had termites (wood floor). Retrievers are very smart. Hope this helped! maybe there's something in the floors . my dog does it too . when hes about to lay down . he does it too when he sleeps in my bed with me. |
