Does anyone have an adult Flat Coat Retriever? What are they like?

I just got a flat coat retriever puppy...what are they like as aduts? I know it depends on how you raise them but i wanna general description...

How you raise a Flatcoat only plays a small role in their behavior as adults. FCRs are highly intelligent, good working dogs that are very, very energetic. They require daily exercise. They ask their owners to challenge them mentally and physically, every day. Known as the "Peter Pan" of retrievers, FCRs often try to turn a serious moment into something humorous. That's why they're seldom seen as service dogs. Physically, they mature in about a year. Mentally, they "grow up" after the age of two. Sad to say ... cancer is very prevalent in our breed. Most FCRs get it, and die from it. Average lifespan: 9-11 years.
Flatcoats excel in field work, agility, tracking, flyball, swimming and retrieving. They do well in cold weather, as well as warm climates. They are great family dogs, especially for active people. They are people friendly, almost to a fault (ie: they offer little protection against intruders). They can easily hurt small children with their wagging tails. They shed quite a bit, but they are easy to groom.
A healthy FCR is a tireless worker, who can play, play, and play, until he collapses. To me, they are the nicest looking, best dogs there is! I hope your breeder explained all this to you when you got him. Good luck!

There is someone on here that does. I starred the question...hope he will find it!!!!!

I did have one but unfortunately he died a few years ago. As a puppy he was absolutely adorable. They are the most appealing dogs but completely crazy. Ours never seemed to grow up and he wanted to play all the time. He walked backwards all his life in the hope that someone was going to kick a stone or throw a stick for him. He loved swimming and would leap off a 6 foot bank into the river. A very active dog.

He was the most affectionate dog, always happy with a waggy tail and very loyal. It was indeed a very sad day when we had to say goodbye to him

Your puppy will bring you a lot of joy I know but make sure you start training him early
