Help its my fish!!!?

my fish has this white foil coat thing on it and it looks like its going to die because i had two other fish that died yesterday because they had it on them too :( i dont want him to die!!!!
ive just cleaned him out so i hope that helps but i dont no what it is on him

hes a goldfish.

Hey adele it could be the filthness so why dont you put it in a bowl off clean wate and then try to rub it off if this doesnt work then it could be new skin if not i dunno?

Probably an infection that it caught from the others.... How often do you normally clean them out?

I doubt there's anything you can do... but I suggest if you get any more fish, make sure you give the tank a really good clean before you put new fish in it.

aww sorry if it happened to ur other two.....hes gonna be next probably

just make sure u feed him and u cleaned the tank

sounds like ich - a parasite. See link below.

sorry but its gonna die

sounds like a bacterial infection

Yes its been in the same water for a long time it needs new water.
Luckly you did that if im wrong its best to go to the vet before it dies! im soory that hapend i hope this dont die!

FLUSH IT
IT'S GONNA DIE

a "white foil coat?" Something like a blanket draped over him right... Does it also look like gold dust just sprinkled on his head too? Also does he look very bloated and sitting at the bottom of the tank "gasping" Goldfish can be very messy fish and water conditions can change very quickly and can become very dangerous rapidly.

Also look at this list and compare it to your fish:

# Scratches against hard objects
# Fish is lethargic
# Loss of appetite and weight loss
# Rapid, labored breathing
# Fins clamped against body
# Fine yellow or rusty colored film on skin (can also be a white film)
# In advanced stages skin peels off

If you answer yes to most of the questions I asked above, do a water test and then if the ammonia, nitrates/nitrites are very high or even slightly peaked then by all means do a water change about (90-100%) and treat your fish:

# Raise water temperature
# Dim lights for several days
# Add aquarium salt
# Treat with copper sulphate for ten days
# Discontinue carbon filtration during treatment
# add a 1/2 a teaspoon of Epsom salts for 20 gallons with goldfish once a day followed by a (25-30%) water change daily.

If this is the case I hope your fish will be okay. Be careful too, I would buy some new gravel and move the other fish to a "hospital tank," So they will have a chance to survive this disease.

Good Luck if it was velvet!

try a treatment for white spot, hopefully this will clear it up.

DO NOT raise the temperature and DO NOT add salt to your gold fish This will make matters worse. Salt will bloat goldfish and warmer temps will cause them to become lethargic not allowing them to fight off what it is they have.

Unfortunately since I cannot see your fish it could be a type of fungus or even ich. Before you treat or change anything in the tank you need to know what you are treating. There are different types of ich. When did you notice the other fish with this white coating? When you say you just cleaned him out, did you empty all the water in the tank? A water change should only be around 25-30% or 50% after ich.

Try looking up the photos as to what your fish has at places like www.goldfishinfo.com/ailment1.htm or Goldfishdoctors.com. Determine what he has then treat.

If it's covering him like a coat, it'll probably be his slimecoat. This won't kill him. It acts as the first barrier against disease and EVERY fish has one. The thing is, in a healthy fish, it's so thin that we can't see it. When the fish is ill its body automatically increases the slimecoat layer to prevent any further infection from getting in.

Good move changing the water - but it is possible to overcompensate and kill the fish, despite your good intentions. For this reason, I need to know the following information:

* How big is the tank?
* Do you have a filter?
* How much water did you change?
* Did you use dechloronator?

Also:
* Is the fish showing any other symptoms apart from suspected increased slimecoat?
* Do you have any water test results for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH?
* What kind of goldfish is he? Common? Fancy?

im not sure what it is but you need medicine. try getting a general fish medicine whic claims to cure many types of diseases. Give him a salt bath too, with aquarium salt (you can find it at most petstores dont use table salt it could kill him) You can easily find on the internet how to give salt baths. Try joining an active forum like kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum where more expeirenced people can give you better answers. Good Luck!!
