What kind of Fish can I keep in a 5 gallon and how many? |
The bottom has gravel and a good filtration system so I can get a betta and ghost shrimp white clouds would be a good choice for a un-heated tank. 5-6 would be a good number. Platties and guppies also would be a good choice as long as the water will not get below 65-68 not much. even the smaller shoaling fish such as neon tetras need space to shoal, 15 gallons minimum. Nothing more than a betta or some ghost shrimp. not much!!!!!! a betta is a nice choice in it. they are pretty good and easy to pet in. but you can only add one male in it to avoid fighting. 2 or 3 small goldfish are good in my opinion. some people say that each goldfish needs at least 10 gallons because they produce high amonia, but in my experience, if you do 25% water change after siphoning out their poop once a week and have a good filter, your fish will get along fine. keep in mind tho that if they get too big, you might need to upgrade tank. Any fish in that tank is going to need a heater. You can get small ones fairly cheap that will work with a 5 gallon tank. A betta would be happy in there with heat or you could get 2 female and a male guppy or 2 platies. |
