Is anybody here a........?

Field Spaniel fan?

what are they like to own?
i adore the breed and would love one but can only keep my cavaliers as still at parents house.
tell me about yours if you own/breed/show them.

I like the Sussex Spaniels.

they seem nice... i never met one,,,,

WESLH SPRINGERS are very very nice dogs.... i have had them..

I owned a springer spaniel, loved him so much.
loyal, and energetic, but calm.
great dogs

check out the site below. i always thought they were a nice looking dog. but i will stick with my Cavaliers.

i like cocker spoaniels and i have one.they're so cute and have no problems.

I show a Field Spaniel and I love the breed now. They are very kind and gentle and they just want to be near their owner. The dog I show is very laid-back (as the breed tends to be) and just enjoys napping while you read or watch TV. He rarely barks, and never has shown aggression to people or dogs. Once, a child came up to him and lifted up his lips and he did not snap, growl or snarl at the child. Also whenever a dog is aggressive towards him, he doesn't fight back. Just looks scared and confused.

This is not to say ALL Field Spaniels are like this. It depends on the breeding and treatment of the dogs. Always do early socialization and training with him. Field Spaniels are also notorious for "counter-surfing". They love food, and many a times has mine been taken to the vet due to him eating excess of cakes, chocolates, granola, and anything you can think of, so early training should help with this.

The best thing to do is get as much information you can! Below should be a link to a website with breed info and also a link to the breeder of the Field Spaniel I show. You can always read up about the breed or contact a breeder and talk to them. It's hard to find books on the breed due to them not being popular, but they are extremely sweet dogs and I think when you can, you should get one.

You can use the AKC website to find reputable breeders in a state near you.
