My cat poops in his litter box but after it drys he take it out and plays with it ..how do i stop this?

He knows how to use the litter properly but when he goes poo he waits till it drys, take it out of his litter and plays with turds around the house...its very frustrating...how do i teach him not to...i tried sticking his nose in it and also spraying him with water...is there anything else?

Please don't stick any living creature in their own excrement. I've never hear of that happening. He must be the most bored kitty in the world to make his own toys. Buy him some toys, including those kind that has a ball enclosed in a ring that he can spin but can't get it out. He'll be a much happier kitty.

buy him some toys or clean them out when their dry

tham tricks dont help for a cat. only digs. buy him some toys that u can put catnip in that should do it or any toy!

Clean the litter box more often so that there's nothing with which to play.

Nooo, don't punish him!He wants to play!Best and cheapest toys:the cardboard that's at the end of the toilet paper roll!GET some aluminium foil, roll it into a ball!or:go to dollar store, get ping-pong balls!cats love it!also, i give my small dog little teddy bears/dolls that rattle or make noise(dollar store or McDonald's)
Oh yes:clean up the litter box!don't leave the doodoo sitting there!

If you have time to spray him with water, you have time to clean out the litter box more often so he isn't tempted. And the other poster is right, get that poor animal some kind of toy. Try crumpling up a piece of paper into a ball and tossing it for him. Or get an old clean sock and put crumpled paper and catnip in it.

Cat nip...get your furry feline friend high as a kite!

EASY!!!!! get a scooper, and when he poops........scoop it out! get him some toys, get a auto scooping litter box.

you can buy kitty litter trays that are like a box with a cat flap so they can walk in and out as they please.
i think itd be hard for your cat to get the poo out of the cat flap and it also helps with smell.
you can get them from any big pet store.

well my cat use to do the same things what we did is we got this litter pan that scoops the poop out after the cat goes in it so they dont have the oppurtunity to wait untill it dries to play with i would also try to get him other toys that he can roll around the housemy cats dont anymore so maybe yours wont either

If you tried sticking his nose in it and telling him no and spraying him with water, then all you can do is to clean the poop out so he can't play with it. Buy him toys with catnip and that should give him something more interesting to play with.

Ahh yes, I remember "poop hockey"... our siamese used to do this. We never could cure him of it, but after the lab came along there were no more "hockey pucks" to be found.... she liked to clean the cat box... not sure which was worse LOL

This was before self-cleaning litterboxes existed.

GET HIM TOYS AND CLEAN THE BOX SOONER TEACH HIM HOW TO PLAY WITH THE TOYS ALSO

I would get out the waste and dispose of it before he can get to it. If it's not there then you won't have this problem. You might want to buy him some balls and cat nips mice to play with.

Get him lots of toys.

Clean the box more frequently, or get a self-cleaning litter box. He might like a paper grocery bag or a shoe box with a few squirts of catnip sprayed inside, or some cheap toys to play with.
