My cat wants to go outside? |
My cat used to be an outdoor/indoor cat but he started meowing like crazy during mating season when he wasnt neutered so I neutered him and thought that would stop the problem but it hasnt. Im afraid to let him out because my other cat recently got ran over but he seems depressed and sits and meows ALL DAY!! Ive tried the leash and harness thing but it just makes him want to go outside more. I try to make indoors fun for him but he hardly ever wants to play. i even got a new kitty for him to play with but he is still depressed. I dont know what to do, I just want him to be safe and happy =( I guess I should mention that my my house doesnt have a fence were kind of out in the open and the new kitty is a female but shes still little so they can only be together when im home He might enjoy a window perch/shelf to sit on and look outside. Maybe he is sad also because his other kitty friend is gone (hit by a car). Try letting him go in a enclosed place outdoors (fenced yard, gated area etc) and see how he behaves. Slowly let him more and more free, if he seems ignorant of cars and dangers keep him inside, if he seems normal let him out. Oh and sorry about your cat! sounds like he needs some companionship via a female cat when i had a cat he did the same thing.. all day walking back and forth making this funny meow noise not the normal one.. so after a week of this. i let him out and he got hit.. and died in my arms.. very sad.. All you can do is keep your cat inside. Talk to your cat and tell him he is safer inside and try to play with him more. Cats are safer inside and healthier. They live a lot longer too. You will have to stick to your guns about keeping him inside. My girl does the same thing. However I just discoverd my cat loves car rides. She is like a dog.."lets go for a ride." I allow her to be off a leash and semi follow me to the car (she gets distracted a lot) so I have to pick her up half the way. Then when we get home she is allowed to linger and smell stuff and then finally I will stamp my foot and she follows me back up stairs. I have an enclosed Patio so during the day its open for her convience. But she always wants to go out the front. So I bough those little fire crackers the ones that just make a noise when you throw it. Now she is afraid to go to the front door. KEEP HIM INSIDE BUT LET HIM LOOK OUT A WINDOW WHEN EVER HE WANTS. can you put the kitten in the bathroom with food and water and a litter box? that way they can sniff each other without hurting each other. well,i live in a very rural area,so i have let my kitties out when they want............even though i know. so,this morning, my husband brought our youngest cat (2yrs.) home dead off the side of the road....................so................. me today i say sad kitty is better than no kitty plus cats are very able to adjust, they are not always willing, but are very able!!! so , why cant the baby be w/the big kitty? unless shes only 4 to 6 weeks,or ill,she should be able to hold her own.however,if she only sees big kitty in front of you,she will surely play the "helpless baby" roll!!! Let him go outside, it sounds like he is bored staying indoors all the time, as who wouldn't be? let him live a little. |
