Are my two cats just strange or had this happened to you?

Okay, this is really weird and I SWEAR I am not making this up. I have two cats, twin boys out of the same litter, which means they get along great and are not at all competitive even though they are not fixed at one year old. I have two litter boxes, located side by side. I never expected them to take one each for themselves--it was mostly so I wasn't CONSTANTLY changing the litter.
Here's the question: Has anybody ever had a same situation where they defecate in one and pee in the other??? Yeah, I don't quite believe it either but they do.

I can picture it for sure. We had 3 cats at one point and they all peed in one litter box and pooped in the other but only if the prior cat's poop was cleaned out. LOL Cats do weird things but as long as they are using the litter box, let them do it their way. LOL

this is normal for cats, dont worry they are normal.. i do not know the reason they do this, but if works for them, then it is ok

yea i use 2 boxes too one upstairs one downstairs
the upstairs is the number 2 drop zone, but they pee in the downstairs one

yes yes yes, kitties are smart

our furry babies use two for wee wee and one for poop

Actually, this happens a lot with multiple cats. And sometimes with single cats that have multiple boxes available. As long as they're using the boxes, go with it.

YES! This is exactly what my five cats do. I thought mine were the only ones who did this!
I thought it was so weird at first. I used to come in to clean the litter boxes - we have three huge ones- and I notice two have faeces in them and the other one just has urine. It was mind-boggling.

I guess its perfectly normal. Cats are so smart :)

they're normal and you have alot of free time. get them neutered.

Ha no I haven't seen that - but it sure makes scooping the poop a lot easier! Smart kitties!

Please get your cats fixed, though. We really don't need more kittens at the shelter and siblings shouldn't breed.
