My family really wants a Belgian Sheepdog... but not a championship dog, just for a pet. Where can I find one? |
Live in Connecticut... would want a relatively cheap dog. Your best bet is still a breeder who shows/breeds champions. This is because such a breeder puts a lot of time, thought, effort and money into producing the best, healthiest, soundest (physically and mentally) dogs that they can. Only a couple of pups out of the litter will be show quality, the rest make GREAT pets. Contact the Belgian Sheepdog Club of America, they should be able to direct you to someone Maybe, at your local animal shelter. You would be surprised at the dogs you can find there. http://belgianrescuelist.ambercreek.net/ I would start with the local humane society and shelters. Many of them often have purebred dogs. Try petfinder.org the fees are by the shelter and minimum compared to what you would pay a breeder. Each breed seems to have its own rescue program as well. Search under breed and rescue. You should get lots of hits. Good luck. Above are all good suggestions. Also www.puppyfinder.com. Try: http://www.bsdrescue.com/ Here are the Belgian Sheepdogs in shelters near you. try hoobly.com your local shelter or www.petfinder.com |
