Where to find a Basenji dog? |
Does anyone know where I could get Basenji in Florida. I found only one breeder online in Port Orange. I agree with ginbark, this breed is difficult to live with and not for the average pet home. Many think it's cool they don't bark, but they make this yodeling noise that is as bad if not worse than barking. They are also difficult to train and almost always dog aggressive. They are very independent and don't seem to even like their owners. Not the cuddly type that's for sure. They are also escape artists and will take off running every chance they get. We are relatively new to the breed and have two Benji's of our own. Although I agree that they are not for everyone I cringe when people put the breed down. The majority of this comment is somewhat untrue, especially the character analysis. Report It I have a website where u can adopt. All I need 2 know is what city are u in or do u want anywhere in Florida. To find a local breeder you can go to http://www.akc.org Good luck;~) Petfinder.org had a couple listed in Newberry Florida. Also look at www.akc.org and they have the breeders listed, plus rescues listed. Basenjis are not like other dogs and not for everyone, I used to live with several and many go into rescues and shelters because people expect them to be like other dogs just non barkers and they def are not. |
