I own an American Akita: If you do or you know someone who does:?

Please tell me any stories about them. Especially if they have protected you. I love the Akita and really like to hear stories about them. Anything - Funny or not..........Thank you!

**Last time I asked a question about the American Akita a rude person tried to tell me there is no such thing, only Japanese Akita. There are actually three types of Akita: The Japanese Akita - The American Akita and the Austrailian Akita. They all come from the Japanese Akita but they are bred to have different size qualities. **

We used to have an Akita and I just loved him to death. We only had him for 6 months and then we had to find him a new home because we had to move out of State and we couldn't take him with us. But we found him a great home with people that had a lot of land and an other Akita.
In the short time we had him, he was very gentle with our then 3 year old daughter. I think Akitas are gerat.

I don't have a story for you but you are wrong there are perhaps 3 different Aktia bloodlines {hence the american, japanese, and austrailian}. They look like little bears just beautiful as can be. I've personally never owned one but will one day. Currently I have a Brittany spaniel and a black lab and my husband insists there isn't room for an akita but I keep trying!

Sorry to tell you this, but there is not 3 different types of Akitas. Perhaps you mean 3 different bloodlines? There is only one recognized size for an Akita, are you perhaps confusing this with the Shiba Inu or other Japanese breeds?
