My dog (airedale terrier 6 yrs) has a tear in his leg..help.?

i went to the vet and she thinks he may have a tear in his leg tissue and it has fluid in it. if it does not heal than he will need surgery. I rescued him from the shelter a few weeks ago and he developed arthiritis from being in there for so long. Apparently he must of ripped the muscle a bit because he now gets exercise.
I am to keep him from mobility as much as possible. do you think i should wrap it up? is there any natural healing food/pill that i can feed him through this hurtful time?

No, I don't think you should be wrapping his leg up. Didn't the vet suggest giving him glucosamine chondroitin for his arthritis? A dog the size of an airedale should be getting at least 500 mg daily, and maybe more to begin with - but the vet should verify that. Is he on anti-inflammatories to help speed the healing along?

Other than that, just follow the vet's advice and keep him immobile as much as possible. Hope his leg heals without him needing surgery.

i would ask if it is possible to get the surgery now to save any inconvinience for your poor dog now.

try heat pad mixed with cool packs rotated! Did they give anything for pain!? U might have to crate him for a few days!

Same thing happened to my dog. We had to keep him inactive for 6 weeks, which was tough.

Dogs HATE bandages/wraps/anything covering their coats. I think your dog would just gnaw it off. You vet may be able to recommend a pet vitamin to ensure proper nutrition, which will help him heal quicker.

For the time being, your just going to have to be firm and not play. Just pet him a lot and wait. He'll be fine.
